Week 2: Documenting Time

For this weeks project I was tasked with documenting time through five still-life drawings. For my drawings I observed the change of a cake over the course of an afternoon as myself and my family ate it. I used blending stub as well as a 5B, 6B and a HB pencil to draw on A3 drawing paper. Through the drawing process I tried to focus on how the shadows gave volume to the object. The parts that I found most difficult were depicting the white cake with grey pencils and drawing the complex swirls in the fondant around the top of the cake, I deviated from the subject when drawing the swirls and just focused on making them look aesthetically pleasing.
